Later that afternoon you meet with a local attorney running for State Rep.
“Send me a proposal!”
He says, at the end of the meeting.
They’re excited about the prospect of working with you, the only thing is, you’ve never put together a proposal for something like this before.
You Google web design proposals and check out a few free templates.
Everything looks obvious but in the back of your head, something says there’s gotta be more to it.
You decide to quote them $3500 for a 1-month engagement where you’ll produce the campaign website, video, and social media content.
a few days later they put down a 25% deposit. The guy running for state rep promises that when the campaign gets funded, you’ll get paid the rest.
Cool. Excited. You take some headshots and get started on the website.
a week later you have a meeting to discuss the video and social media.
The money hasn’t come.
There’s a new campaign manager.
When she hears your rate, she blurts, “what are you a lawyer, too?”
You’ve got enough to feed your fam, but not enough to cover the rent.
Desperate, you hop on Craigslist and reply to the first ad you see.
Lifestyle startup looking for a videographer.
A couple days later you hop on a train to Brooklyn to meet.
Her and her assistant really liked the thing you said on your website about the 3rd eye lens.
After the meeting they invite you to check out one of the possible locations for their launch event.
Only problem is you’ve got a train to catch. If you miss it, you won’t get home until real late. Your wife won’t be happy.
If you stay you can get some test footage and hopefully impress them with a tangible demo.
What do you do?
